About the eSatsang
What is the eSatsang?
The eSatsang is the BMCM online community of passage meditators from around the world. This satsang has been running in different forms since 1995, and includes more than 1000 people from 35 countries.
The eSatsang is a place to explore Easwaran’s teachings together. The BMCM eSatsang offers excerpts from Easwaran’s talks and writings on specific themes each month, with a variety of weekly activities.
As a participant, you are invited to engage with Easwaran’s teachings by following along. You can also share your reflections, comments, and questions – and we’re grateful for every contribution you make because it creates more satsang. This online community, available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, enables you to communicate as much as you like and at any time that’s convenient to you with your fellow passage meditators around the world.
Easwaran reminds us in the following quote of the practical value that satsang offers for our practice of the eight-point program:
“Those who set out to change themselves are salmon swimming against the relentless flow of the selfish life. Truly, we need every bit of support we can get; we need friends, loyal companions on the journey. We have to do the swimming, of course; nobody else can do it for us. But there will be an easier and swifter passage if we can swim with those who encourage us, who set a strong pace and will not stop until they reach their destination. The burdens are shared, easing them; the joys are shared too, multiplying them.”
What is the role of the eSatsang?
The eSatsang is a place to
- draw inspiration from Eknath Easwaran's talks and writings
- support each other in our practice of the eight-point program
- share thoughts, tips, and questions related to Easwaran’s teachings with others practicing the eight points.
Are there any guidelines for participating?
This eSatsang is for anyone who is regularly practicing passage meditation. We are eager for you to connect directly with Easwaran through his readings and videos, and discuss this material with other meditators. You are welcome to use the comment feature of our Discussion page as much as you like. It’s thanks to your ongoing practice and your thoughtful comments that the eSatsang continues to thrive!
We do ask that you keep the conversations focused on the eight-point program of passage meditation. And of course, please use kind speech and be considerate.

Who runs this site?
Behind the scenes, there's a team made up of BMCM staff and volunteers working together on curating the weekly Easwaran content and communications for each week.
However, for the most part, it’s all of you – the eSatsang members – who play an essential role in this satsang through your comments and interactions.
I still have questions. How can I get them answered?
You can visit our Contact page, or just email esatsang@easwaran.org. We always enjoy hearing from you, and are very interested in your feedback.
