Last week we joined our spiritual family virtually at Ramagiri Ashram for Vishu, a holiday when we honor the Lord within ourselves and others. Consciously weaving the eight points throughout an entire day quietens our minds and brings our meditation passages to life. It can help us “bring heaven to earth,” for ourselves and those around us.
In Easwaran’s article “Bringing Heaven to Earth” in the 2008 Summer Blue Mountain Journal he writes:
“For the words of these passages are not just poetry. When we meditate on them with one-pointed attention and an open heart, they stir a response within us. We glimpse in them a reflection of our own true Self. The wonderful potential latent in us begins to shine, as a possibility we can not only imagine but long for and begin to live by. Each passage is a mirror for helping us bring the lofty vision of the world’s great spiritual traditions into our daily lives.”
This week, join us virtually at Ramagiri by participating in whichever parts of our daily schedule you can. When we are together in heart, there is no distance between us, and we are a healing force for the world.
First thing in the morning: Half an hour of passage meditation
Wholesome vegetarian meals, shared with others when possible
Mantram exercise
Working in harmony with others on the tasks at hand throughout the day
Enjoying a bit of wholesome relaxation/recreation
Evening: Half an hour of passage meditation
Evening videotaped talk by Easwaran (available on the Easwaran Digital Library)
A little spiritual reading and then go to sleep repeating the mantram
Would you like to share what it has been like to join Ramagiri virtually at some times during your day? Anything you would like to continue?
